Established in 1956, Lakewood Memory Gardens East in Chattanooga, Tennessee is located near Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport. The area around and including Lakewood was picturesque farmland with the Chickamauga Creek meandering softly through its midst. The area along the creek has been turned over to the city and designated as "Green Space" Although the city now surrounds the cemetery, it has preserved its quiet park-like atmosphere where families can visit and reflect. Deer, turkey, beavers, ducks, geese, and birds of every description plus an occasional bovine can be seen on the grounds. The quiet dignity and peaceful feel has been an invitation for thousands of families to place their trust for the care for their loved ones. Mayors, judges, members of the armed forces, police officers, brave firefighters, members of the clergy and priesthood, people from every walk of life have been welcomed and sheltered within the gates.
Lakewood Memory Gardens East offers traditional in-ground burial, cremation niches and columbaria, lawn crypt gardens, private estates, and a mausoleum
